Everton fans have taken to Twitter to congratulate Louis Gray on his new deal at the club.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper agreed terms on a one-year contract extension, which will tie him to the club until the summer of 2018.

Everton confirmed the news on their official website and on their official Twitter account on Friday morning.

The Welsh shot-stopper spent the majority of the 2016-17 campaign on the sidelines with a back injury, and he failed to make an appearance for the first team or the Under-23s outfit.

However, Toffees manager Ronald Koeman saw it fit to grant the youngster with a contract extension, and with it – a chance to impress next term.

The 21-year-old has been at Goodison Park since the summer of 2015 when he arrived from his boyhood club Wrexham.

During his two years on Merseyside the goalkeeper has played twice for the Under-23s side, and has kept two clean sheets.

The majority of the Goodison Park faithful were nonplussed by Gray’s new deal and they simply called for the club to announce more new signings.

Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter.

Everton have already completed the signings of Jordan Pickford and Davy Klaassen, but Koeman will want to strengthen his squad further as he pushes for a place in the Premier League’s top-six.

In other Everton transfer news, Koeman is close to securing a deal for this 24-year-old defender.
