Antoine Semenyo has been the subject of intense transfer speculation following his performances for Bournemouth this season.

Semenyo has been linked with a move to Liverpool, while Manchester City are also believed to be keeping tabs on his situation.

It comes despite Semenyo agreeing a new contract with Bournemouth in the summer, extending his stay at the Vitality Stadium until 2030.

In a new twist, The Athletic’s David Ornstein reported on 17 November the Ghana international’s contract includes a £65million release clause in January, while the price will decrease further next summer.

Antoine Semenyo caught up in 'very weird' Bournemouth situation

Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider the details of Semenyo’s deal being released to the public is a “breach of the confidentiality clause” in his Bournemouth contract.

Manchester United are another club interested in signing Semenyo, with Tottenham also believed to be in the mix ahead of January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “It's a really weird story because I don't really understand how it's been allowed to be leaked in the way that it has, where every man and his dog has got the story.

“They haven’t just got the overall story, but it's got a story in some detail in terms of when the clause kicks in, how long it lasts for, the fact that it's exactly £65m but lower when it gets to the summer. I mean, they've got the whole clause, all the bits and pieces, bells and whistles about it.

“I don't know why it's in the interests of any party, including his agent, to get that out into the public domain. It's clearly a breach of the confidentiality clause, so I don't know. It's a bit of a strange one really.”

Semenyo missed Bournemouth’s 2-2 draw against West Ham on Saturday (22 November) after picking up an ankle injury.

Liverpool could sign Semenyo to replace Mohamed Salah

Semenyo’s form this season has alerted the Premier League's top clubs, who could now battle it out to sign the winger in January.

Football Insider revealed on 25 October Semenyo is on Liverpool’s shortlist to replace Mohamed Salah as they look to strengthen out wide.

Salah has registered five goals and three assists in 17 outings for Liverpool this season.

Meanwhile, Semenyo has contributed six goals and three assists in 12 appearances for Andoni Iraola’s side.
