Archer tipped for January move as Aston Villa talks advance - Agbonlahor
Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Cameron Archer to sign a new Aston Villa contract and leave on loan in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer delivered his verdict after Archer shone once again in the Carabao Cup.
The 20-year-old scored a powerful header in Villa’s 1-1 draw with Chelsea before they were defeated on penalties.
He scored a hat-trick in the 6-0 first-round victory over League Two side Barrow last month.
An Aston Villa source told Football Insider today the club are offering Archer an improved deal to stop him quitting in January.
He has just 12 months left to run on his current deal, meaning he can sign a pre-contract deal with a foreign club in January.

Villa are offering him a big pay hike and hope to have a deal done before the winter transfer window.
Asked whether he this Archer will commit his future to the club, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, I think so.
“They’ll see what he’s done in the Carabao Cup and he’s been in and around the first-team.
“I see him as one that yes, you definitely have to get him signed up to a new contract.
“Then he can carry on being around the first team and maybe even look at a loan in January.
“For what he’s done in the Carabao Cup, he deserves a new contract.”
Archer scored four times and provided an assist in 27 games on loan with Solihull Moors last term.
The Midlands-born ace spent the season with the National League club but was often utilised as a winger.
