Arsenal 2026-27 budget plans emerge ahead of summer transfer window as potential champions

Arsenal need to start budgeting like a side which will continue to reach Champions League finals and compete for Premier League titles in the future.

That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking to Football Insider, as Arsenal look set to post record revenue from this season.

The Gunners have had a successful campaign, with Mikel Arteta on the cusp of bringing the Premier League title to the Emirates, whilst his side have reached a first Champions League final in 20 years.

Arteta has continued to strengthen Arsenal’s squad every season, and edge them closer to silverware, which is showing in the club’s financial accounts.

Arsenal are in a strong financial position, and winning trophies each season would continue to increase revenue.

Arsenal need to be ‘consistent’ to produce future record revenue

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Arteta and his squad should be “enjoying” their current success and not be thinking about the future of the club.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness thinks for the Gunners to continue competing at the top they need to show belief and spend their money wisely.

Matchday Revenue£153.9m
Commercial Revenue£263.2m

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Arsenal should enjoy it without having to think of what could happen.

“That’s not really the players’ job or Mikel Arteta’s job. That’s more like people like myself that have to look after those sorts of things and plan on those eventualities and pour the bucket of cold water on. At the moment they should be enjoying it.

“I don’t think there’s any reason why they shouldn’t, except they need to be doing this again next season and look to keep that sort of revenue going. They will want to be consistent in the Champions League, getting to the semi-finals, final, and getting that sort of money coming in every season.

“That’s what they’ve got to start budgeting for and if you’re going to stay at the top you’ve got to believe that you can do it and spend accordingly.”

Arsenal forced to pay £80m to sign Newcastle star

With Arsenal’s strong finances, it is expected that the north London club will be spending plenty of cash again in the summer transfer window to bolster their ranks.

The Gunners have been linked with Newcastle midfielder Sandro Tonali, who is expected to leave St James’ Park this summer in search of European football.

Sources have told Football Insider that Newcastle could accept an £80million from Arsenal for Tonali, with the Magpies not willing to let the Italian go on the cheap.

The 26-year-old will also be of interest to other clubs, with a return to Italy another option if he does not wish to stay in the Premier League.
