Arsenal backed to sign 'world-class' Locatelli after 'huge' reveal via Sky - pundit
Kevin Campbell has claimed “it would be huge” if Arsenal can sign Sassuolo midfielder Manuel Locatelli this summer.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker heaped praise on the 23-year-old who would be a “world-class” partner for Thomas Partey in the middle of the park.
As reported by Sky Sports (July 1st), Arsenal are “ahead” in the race to sign the centre-midfielder according to Sassuolo’s sporting director Giovanni Carnevali.
Locatelli has starred for Italy at the European Championship and was a substitute in their penalty shootout victory over Spain on Tuesday night.
He has two years remaining on his contract with Sassuolo.
When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his thoughts on Locatelli, Campbell said: “It would be huge if we can get him.

“We have seen what a great player he is at the Euros.
“Normally, Italians like to stay in their own country, especially when Juventus come calling. But the great thing for Arsenal is Juventus do not have the money anymore. With financial fair play they have to box straight.
“It gives Arsenal a great opportunity to get a world-class midfielder in beside Thomas Partey. Go for it. Go and get him, please Arsenal.”
Giovanni Carnevali told Sky in Italy: “”It’s true that other clubs from abroad are interested.
” Arsenal are one of these and they are ahead of everyone else because they tabled the only concrete offer we have received so far.”
