Arsenal 'can't afford' Europa League after Sky's Edu reveal - Agbonlahor

Gabriel Agbonlahor has backed Arsenal to compete with Tottenham and Chelsea for a top three finish this season.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa forward said the Gunners “can’t afford” to keep playing in the Europa League.

Speaking to Sky Sports (26 July), Gunners technical director Edu revealed he expects the London club will “win things” this season.

He said the Gunners can achieve more than just a top-four finish in the 2022-23 campaign.

Agbonlahor claimed that Mikel Arteta’s side won’t achieve higher than third place this season.

I think the best that Arsenal can get is third place,” he told Football Insider.

I feel that even watching the Community Shield and seeing Liverpool and Man City, they’re a step ahead of the others.

Arsenal, Chelsea and Spurs are all fighting for third.

Arsenal, even since I was a little kid, were a team that always go for the title. Top four shouldn’t be the only thing they’re going for they should be able to break into top three, top two. It will be hard this season but what Arteta’s building there is very good.

Arsenal have made some very good signings so they have to be pushing for that. This season they’ve got to be looking for top four, they have to set their sites on top three. Then if you finish fourth it’s still a good season.

Arsenal can’t afford to keep playing Europa League football, they’re a Champions League football team.
