Arsenal are closing in on the £60m signing of Lyon star Nabil Fekir, according to a report.
The Daily Star report that a deal for the 24-year-old is “almost done” which would pave the way for star players Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez to depart the club in January.
Arsenal are understood to be ready to accept as little as £30m for Ozil, who is a target of Manchester United.
They will also accept a similar fee for Sanchez, who came close to joining Premier League leaders Manchester City over the summer.
Both players are out of contract at the end of the season and could leave the club for free if Arsenal do not sell them in January.
Football Insider verdict:
There is no doubt that this would be a good signing for Arsenal. The France international has been compared to Lionel Messi by Lyon chairman chairman Jean-Michel Aulas and the speculation is sure to excite Gunners fans. A move to the Emirates Stadium would see Fekir reunited with former Lyon teammate and fellow Frenchman Alexandre Lacazette, who joined the Premier League side for a club record fee over the summer. Fekir, who is contracted until 2020, has been in exceptional form for the Ligue 1 outfit this season scoring 11 goals in 11 league games. The French forward can play as a striker or in the number 10 position, providing a diverse option for Arsene Wenger who looks set to lose two key players in Ozil and Sanchez over the next six months.
In other Arsenal news, striker Olivier Giroud has made a big decision on his future at the club.
