Arsenal could seal 'brilliant' Rodriguez signing after reported update - La Liga expert

Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Real Betis midfielder Guido Rodriguez amid reported interest in his signature from Arsenal and Liverpool.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners striker, who delivered weekly punditry for La Liga TV last season, backed the “brilliant” 27-year-old would be a success in the Premier League.

According to ABC Sevilla, via Sport Witness (August 3rd), Real Betis are willing to sell their prized asset this summer.

The La Liga club are said to be open to lowering their asking price for the centre-midfielder, after Arsenal were initially priced out of a move.

Rodriguez has three years remaining on his contract with Real Betis.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his assessment of the midfielder, Campbell said: “I’m a big fan of his.

“He is a very good player. He is a brilliant midfielder who is combative, good on the ball, can play and is mobile.

“Listen, he is a top-class player who would be an asset to Liverpool or Arsenal next season.

“In that Liverpool squad there is a gap in that midfield since Wijnaldum left but let me you, there is a bigger gap at Arsenal, especially now that Partey is injured.

“I think he would be a smart signing for either side and I can see him at Arsenal.”

Rodriguez made 38 appearances for Real Betis in the 2020-21 campaign.

He also has 10 caps for Argentina to his name, of which six came this summer on his country’s way to the Copa America title.
