Arsenal could sign 'top-class' Lacazette replacement loved by Carragher from rivals - pundit
Kevin Campbell has heaped praise on Ollie Watkins as Arsenal reportedly shortlist the Aston Villa striker to replace Alexandre Lacazette.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Highbury favourite said the 25-year-old is “a top-class player” who was Villa’s “main guy” last season.
Arsenal are expected to enter the transfer market for a striker next year with Lacazette set to leave upon the expiration of his contract in June.
According to The Sun (October 6th), the Gunners have identified Aston Villa’s Watkins and Everton’s Calvert-Lewin as potential targets.
Watkins joined Villa from Brentford in a £33million deal in September 2020.
He scored 14 goals in 37 appearances in his debut Premier League campaign.

As reported by Birmingham Live (24th January), his form earned high praise from Sky Sports pundit Jamie Carragher.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of Watkins, Campbell said: “I really like Ollie Watkins.
“He’s come up from the Championship and proved that he is a Premier League striker.
“He was the main guy for Villa last season, everything ran through him. But, now they have signed Danny Ings and changed their system and I think it has affected his game.
“Make no mistake though, he’s a top-class player. He will score goals.
“Would Aston Villa sell? I’m not so sure because they want to push into that top six. It is great to see Arsenal being linked with great, young, vibrant strikers. It shows we’re moving in the right direction.”
