Laurent Koscielny has been named Arsenal’s player of the month, after receiving 35.6% of the vote from supporters.
The club’s official website confirmed on Tuesday morning that Koscielny narrowly beat centre-back partner and new signing Rob Holding who received 33% of the vote.
Forward Alexis Sanchez, who scored a goal and provided two assists in the 3-1 win against Watford at Vicarage Road, was third with 18.4% of the votes.
Koscielny was given an extended break by Arsene Wenger at the start of the season, and he missed his side’s opening day defeat to Liverpool when they conceded four goals at home.
However, the 30-year-old returned the following week to put in a man-of-the-match display in the goalless draw against Premier League champions Leicester City.
Wenger’s side then recorded their first win of the season against Watford, and Koscielny was a colossus at the back and hugely instrumental in the commanding victory.
The Gunners are now planning for a tough home fixture against Southampton on Saturday afternoon.
Wenger will have the option of picking new £35 million signing Shkodran Mustafi in defence and new striker Lucas Perez.
