Confirmed: Arsenal academay graduate has trial with MLS club

Ex-Arsenal player Emmanuel Frimpong is on trial with MLS club Sporting Kansas City, according to the club’s manager.

The Arsenal academy graduate, 24, has seen a dramatic fall in his footballing career after making his debut as a highly rated youngster for Arsene Wenger’s side in 2011.

It has now been revealed by Kansas City manager Peter Vermes that Frimpong is on trial with the club after being released by Russian side FC Ufa.

“We are trying to look at where he [Frimpong] is now,” said Sporting Kansas City manager as quoted by the Metro. “I don’t care what the past was; it’s where he is now. We’re taking a look at him, just taking a look at him.”

Frimpong was released by Arsenal in 2014, after making only six senior appearances for the club.

The midfielder made a permanent switch to Championship side Barnsley, but was released after four months as the club were relegated into the third-tier of English football.

Frimpong is now a free agent after being released by FC Ufa as he searches for a new club with the MLS being the most likely destination as he looks to embark on a new chapter in his career.
