Arsenal fans have taken to social media to revel in their team’s International Champions Cup win over Bayern Munich in a pre-season friendly.
The Gunners left it late during the clash at the Shanghai Stadium in China, with Alex Iwobi scoring in the third minute of injury time to cancel out Robert Lewondowski’s opener and force the game to penalties after it finished 1-1.
There, it was goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez who was the hero, stopping two spot kicks to secure victory for the English side, making it three wins from three in pre-season so far.
Great work, @emimartinezz1! 👏

Bayern were amazing but our young guns really deserved this victory, they were sensational yet again. So impressed with Nelson though 👌

While fans are happy victory was secured, it is unlikely to make up for the two 5-1 drubbings handed to Arsenal by Bayern over their two leg tie in the Champions League last season.
The home defeat back in March will be the club’s last match in Europe’s top club competition, after they only managed to qualify for the Europa League for the upcoming campaign.
Their pre-season tour of the Far East has provided the supporters with promise though, with convincing victories over Sydney FC and Western Sydney Warriors, with new signing Alexandre Lacazette firing home on his debut.
Their next fixture sees them take on Premier League rivals Chelsea in the Beijing National Stadium on Saturday.
In other Arsenal news, the club has agreed terms for this midfielder’s move.
