Arsenal idol 'amazed' by journalist's Thomas Partey update - 'One thing I do know...'

Kevin Campbell is over the moon to hear Arsenal midfielder Thomas Partey is closing in on a return from injury.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker said it would be “amazing” to have the 28-year-old available for the final game of the season against the Toffees.

Partey has been sidelined with a thigh injury since the 3-0 loss at Crystal Palace on 4 April.

The centre-midfielder has been taking part in individual training sessions as he steps up his recovery.

According to Football.London‘s Chris Wheatley (9 May), Partey could return for the final game of the season against Everton at the Emirates.

However, staff are said to be wary of rushing back the Ghana international too early.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his reaction to the news, Campbell said: “Listen, I hope the top four is wrapped up by the Everton game.

“I hope the Everton game is a dead rubber. One thing I do know is that football is a funny old game. A couple of results can change everything.

“Having your best midfielder back and in contention would be amazing for Arsenal. You want to see all of your best players on the pitch.

“Even if he is not fit to start it would be great to have him on the bench. That way he can come on if we need him.”
