Arsenal idol fumes over Alexandre Lacazette 'nonsense' after interview reveal - 'people can't handle the truth'
Kevin Campbell has hit out at Arsenal fans over their reaction to Alexandre Lacazette’s recent comments regarding his future.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker insisted it is “nonsense” to suggest the 30-year-old should not play for the club again.
Lacazette has just over two months remaining on his contract in north London and looks set to leave on a free transfer this summer.
Speaking to French outlet Canal+ (18 April), the centre-forward revealed he is in pre-contract talks with several clubs, including his former employers Lyon.
The news broke ahead of pivotal games against Chelsea and Man United, both of which Arsenal won.
When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to Lacazette’s comments, Campbell said: “What he said got highlighted.
“I am not worried about that though because the club haven’t committed to him. He knows he has to sort himself out. I have no problem with that.
“Arsenal fans who say he shouldn’t play for the club again… What a load of nonsense. It makes no sense to me.
“We are in a position now where the club haven’t committed to him and he needs to sort himself out. He only has a few months left on his contract.
“Look, if he is fit he should play. Lacazette has not been a problem all season.
“He is telling the truth at the end of the day. If people can’t handle the truth don’t read it. Lacazette is talking to clubs, what is wrong with that? If the club wanted him they would have signed him up ages ago.”
