Arsenal idol makes 'incredible' Gabriel Jesus claim after 'surprising' development
Kevin Campbell is “surprised” Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus has not been named in the Brazil squad for the upcoming internationals.
However, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Highbury favourite is adamant the “incredible” 25-year-old will make it into his country’s World Cup squad later this year.
Jesus has made an impressive start to the 2022-23 campaign as a central striker for the Gunners.
As reported by The Athletic (13 September), the centre-forward has been left out of the Brazil squad for upcoming fixtures against Ghana and Tunisia.
Brazil manager Tite has also not selected Gabriel Martinelli and Gabriel Magalhaes for the international fixtures despite the fact Arsenal are top of the Premier League.
Jesus was a regular in the Brazil squad when at Manchester City.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the news of Jesus’ absence from the squad, Campbell said: “I was surprised because a manager normally chooses his best squad.
“However, when you think about it, Tite is putting a squad together of players who need to convince him. He knows 90 per cent of his squad for the World Cup. I think Tite needs to be convinced by other players.
“Gabriel Jesus is a stick-on for me given the way he has started the season. He has been incredible.
“He normally starts for Brazil so I see him going to the World Cup.”
