Arsenal idol 'wowed' by Serge Gnabry transfer update via Sky - 'there is legs in this'

Kevin Campbell has claimed “there is legs” in Arsenal potentially signing Bayern Munich winger Serge Gnabry this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker suggested the 26-year-old’s pre-existing relationship with manager Mikel Arteta could be pay dividends.

Gnabry is fast approaching the final 12 months of his contract at the Allianz Arena.

According to Sky Germany, via journalist Ronan Murphy (3 June), Arsenal are interested in re-signing the winger this summer.

However, they are said to face competition from Champions League winners Real Madrid for his signature.

When asked by Football Insider for his thoughts on the prospect of Gnabry returning to the Emirates, Campbell said: “There is legs in this one and let me tell you why.

“Mikel Arteta played with Gnabry at Arsenal. Arteta was the captain when Gnabry came through.

“He is obviously a player Arteta admires. He knows his qualities and likes him as a player.

“The likes of Gnabry would fit in seamlessly. He knows the club. It would be the second coming but he knows the club. It is not as if it would be all knew to him. That part of it is really important.

“You want new signings to hit the ground running. You would not have to worry about that with Gnabry.

“There is definite legs in it because Gnabry still has Arsenal in him. If the opportunity arises… Wow. He is quality.”
