Arsenal 'looking into' deal for Gabriel Jesus ally with announcement lined up - pundit
Noel Whelan has insisted Mikel Arteta will now turn attention to adding a target man as Arsenal close in on the signing of top target Gabriel Jesus.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the Gunners can “never have enough options” as they vie for Champions League qualification in the 2022/23 campaign.
Football Insider revealed on Saturday (25 June) that the £45million signing of Jesus will be announced by Arsenal in the coming days after all parties reached a full agreement on a move.
Arteta’s side have already moved to renew Eddie Nketiah’s contract during the off-season – while Alexandre Lacazette has left the club for Lyon at the end of his deal.
According to The Athletic (28 June), Arsenal, West Ham, and Newcastle are among the English sides keen to bring 6 foot 5 inch hitman Gianluca Scamacca to the Premier League this summer.
Whelan suggested Arteta will now be laying the groundwork for a potential deal after tying up the addition of Jesus.

“You can never have enough options,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“Gabriel Jesus, Eddie Nketiah – these are both players who like to run off the last defender’s shoulder and spend most of their time in and around the box.
“If there’s an opportunity to bring someone in who is six-foot and above – a different type of player, someone who can attack balls into the box – then that could be worthwhile.
“It would give Arsenal that out ball if they are struggling. I’m sure it’s something Mikel Arteta will be looking into.”
Arsenal have already announced the signings of Fabio Viera and Marquinhos this summer.
The Gunners will play Europa League football in the 2022/23 season.
