Arsenal have made Newcastle star man Alexander Isak their top priority for the summer window, sources have told Football Insider.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that the 25-year-old is the "key target" for Mikel Arteta's side later this year.

It is believed there is no chance of a shock move happening in the mid-season window, which opened on Wednesday (1 January) and shuts on 3 February.

Arsenal have long been admirers of Isak and were widely linked with the Sweden international before he secured his move to Newcastle from Real Sociedad in 2022.

He has since become a proven Premier League goalscorer and is continuing his rise to stardom in English football this term.

Isak has hit 13 goals and notched four assists in 20 games across all competitions for Newcastle in the 2024-25 campaign.

He is behind only Mohamed Salah (17), Erling Haaland (14) and Cole Palmer (12) in the Premier League scoring charts this season.

The striker, who is under contract at St James' Park until June 2028, is reportedly valued at £150million by Newcastle.

Isak has scored 48 goals in 87 games across all competitions for the Magpies.

Arsenal currently have Kai Havertz and Gabriel Jesus on the books as their primary forwards.

The Gunners, who sit six points behind league leaders Liverpool having played an extra game, have scored two goals per game on average in the Premier League this term.
