Arsenal news: Agent could 'force' Bukayo Saka into move after Sky reveal

Noel Whelan expects Bukayo Saka’s agent to apply “pressure” on his client if Arsenal do not qualify for the Champions League.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Premier League striker claimed there will be “whispers” at top clubs regarding a potential summer move for the 20-year-old.

In an interview with Sky Sports (10 February), Saka revealed he “dreams” of playing in the Champions League.

According to ESPN (3 February), Liverpool and Man City are keeping tabs on the winger in case the Gunners fail to finish in the top four.

Saka has two-and-a-half-years remaining on his contract at the Emirates.

When asked by Football Insider deputy editor Russell Edge for his assessment of the England international’s future, Whelan said:

“Saka’s had such a quick rise at Arsenal over the past three seasons. He has become a hugely important player and commodity for them.

“Saka will not want to leave Arsenal, he will desperately want to get them into the Champions League this season.

“But there will be pressure from his agent. There will be whispers and people talking because teams in the Champions League will want a player like Saka in their side.”

Arsenal are currently fifth in the Premier League and one point off fourth-placed West Ham with two games in hand.

Mikel Arteta’s side are not in action this weekend – next up is the visit of Brentford on 19 February.
