Arsenal predicted to appoint Vieira after what pundit 'has just heard' in 'huge' move

Frank McAvennie claims Arsenal would rather have Patrick Vieira in the dugout than Mikel Arteta.

The former West Ham hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insists the current Gunners boss remains under pressure.

Arsenal came from behind the draw 2-2 with Crystal Palace on Monday as they remained 12th in the Premier League table.

Vieira returned to his former side and received a warm reception from the home fans.

McAvennie claims some at Arsenal would rather have Vieira in the dugout after he transformed Palace in a matter of weeks.

“From what I hear, the fans were all singing for Vieira,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.

“Palace outplayed them on Monday. They were so unlucky to not take all three points.

“Now, a year ago, Palace outplaying Arsenal would be unthinkable. How long has Vieira been there? 16 weeks?

“No disrespect to Arteta but Vieira has done everything he hasn’t. Palace are playing on the front foot and they look like they are enjoying themselves.

“That is a huge thing in football for me. I don’t see any Arsenal players enjoying themselves.

“That spells trouble for me. A club like Arsenal should not be getting dominated by Palace.

“That’s no disrespect to Palace by the way. I think Arsenal would rather have Vieira now.”

Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scored either side of goals from Odsonne Edouard and Cristian Benteke.

The Gunners have won and lost three in the league this season as well as drawing twice.
