Arsenal ready to trigger £33m release clause for international attacker

Arsenal FC are ready to trigger Cristian Pavon’s whopping £32.6million ($37m) release clause at Boca Juniors, should Alexis Sanchez’ deal to join Manchester City go through – according to a report.
TyC Sports report that the Gunners are covering their tracks for when the inevitable happens, although no official contact has been made between the clubs as of yet.
Pavon, who has seen a start to his international career at Boca Juniors, is the subject of interest from multiple clubs, although it is understood that Arsenal are the front runners to land the 21-year-old.
It is looking ever more likely that the Chilean sensation Alexis Sanchez will join Manchester City, either this January, or on a free transfer when his contract runs out in the summer.
TyC Sports claim that Pavon’s international stature will increase the fee, as he is likely to be called up to the Argentine squad to play in the World Cup in Russia later this year.
Football Insider verdict:
Cristian Pavon is a truly wonderful talent, and his heavily sought after by many teams in Europe. When Arsenal lose Alexis Sanchez, they are going to need an immediate replacement if they are to sustain their reputation as one of England’s best teams – and it seems as though Pavon fits the bill. The 21-year-old has age on his side, and will adapt easily to the Premier League having spent time in the ultra-rough Argentinian Primera Division with Boca Juniors. The forward is highly regarded in Argentina as an up and coming talent, having earned his first two caps for the National side this season.
