Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover lands bonus as contract clause revealed
Arsenal set-piece coach Nicolas Jover has received a £10,000 bonus for every goal scored from a corner or free-kick by the team this season, sources have told Football Insider.
The champions broke the record for the number of goals netted from corners in a single Premier League season, netting 19, with the Frenchman credited as the driving force behind their success.
In total, Mikel Arteta’s side have scored 25 set-piece goals in the Premier League alone this season, excluding penalties, and four in the Champions League on their route to Budapest.
In the domestic cup competitions, too, they scored five, adding up to a total of 34 across all competitions this season. On that basis, Jover has netted a cool £340,000 directly from the team’s remarkable set-piece output this season.
Noni Madueke’s volleyed finish against Crystal Palace on the final day marked Arsenal’s final set-piece goal of the league season, with the Champions League final against PSG still to come on Saturday.

Arsenal will have earned more than £300million this season if they can lift the Champions League title in Budapest this week.
It has been a dream season for the Gunners, who ended their 22-year wait for the Premier League title last week when they lifted the trophy at Selhurst Park.

The grappling that goes on during corners has been a topic of huge discussion in recent weeks, with calls being made on the Premier League to draft new, stricter guidance for referees.
Regardless of any potential changes, the likes of Jover at Arsenal and other set-piece coaches will be tasked by their clubs with responding with further innovations and strategies.
Jover in line for new Arsenal contract
Arsenal appointed Jover from Manchester City in 2021, with Arteta being well aware of the Frenchman’s talents from his own time at the Etihad Stadium.
The 44-year-old has previously worked for Montpellier, Croatia and Brentford, who, after their promotion, led the way in the Premier League in terms of set pieces.
Jover’s success will undoubtedly have attracted interest from teams elsewhere, but he is expected to stay on and sign a new contract when Arteta does.
The Spaniard’s current deal is in line with the rest of his backroom staff and is set to expire in 2027, although talks are due to take place this summer with an agreement expected to arrive.
New terms may well see an increased bonus for Jover, who has more than done enough to prove his value.
