Arsenal should re-sign 'incredible' Sanchez after door opens - Campbell
Arsenal should consider re-signing Alexis Sanchez if the Inter Milan winger is available on a free and “is willing to graft”, according to Kevin Campbell.
The former Gunners striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 32-year-old has lost his way since leaving the Emirates in January 2018.
According to InterLive, via The Mirror (21st September), Sanchez has been told he is free to leave the Nerazzurri in the new year.
The ex-Manchester United and Barcelona forward has two years remaining on his contract at the San Siro.
Sanchez contributed 80 goals and 45 assists in his 166 appearances for Arsenal, form he has struggled to replicate since.
When asked by Football Insider if he would welcome Sanchez’s return, Campbell said:
“Alexis Sanchez was incredible when he came to Arsenal but personally, I cannot see him coming back.
“Is he talented? Of course he is. But he has not been the same since he left.
“The Manchester United move was a disaster for him. He has gone to Inter Milan and it has not quite worked out there either, even though they won the title.
“I don’t think we’ll take him back but if you could get him for nothing and he is willing to graft… Who knows what Mikel Arteta will do.
“It is a fantasy and a nice thought but I think the club have moved on. I doubt we will see that happening.”
