Arsenal tipped to agree 'big-money' Saliba deal after reveal - Campbell

Kevin Campbell has tipped Arsenal to tie William Saliba down to a new contract at the Emirates next summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker expects the 20-year-old to be handed “a long-term contract on bigger money”.

Saliba is impressing out on loan at Marseille this season.

According to The Telegraph (2nd November), the centre-half intends to fight for a place in Mikel Arteta’s side next season.

The France Under-21 international is said to be undertaking English lessons in preparation for his return to London.

When asked by Football Insider for his reaction to the news, Campbell said: “Saliba is a young player who is learning his trade.

“If you look at the clubs he has played for, he is gradually stepping up. Step by step.

“He is doing the business so he is ready for next season. He is going to be ready to play next season. There will be no questions asked.

“I’m sure the club will be in contact with him regularly. It’s great to see he is being mature and having English lessons. It is the right thing to do because at the end of the day, he is an Arsenal player.

“It wouldn’t surprise me if, when he comes back, he signs a new deal. You want to secure that man down to a long-term contract. I think they’ll tie him down on bigger money. Let’s get on with it.”
