Arsenal tipped to 'easily' sign Gabriel Jesus thanks to 'edge' - pundit
Arsenal could “easily” sign Gabriel Jesus this summer thanks to Mikel Arteta’s links to Man City.
That’s according to former Leeds United stopper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the attacker’s future.
As quoted by the Guardian on 24 April, the Brazilian international has refused to commit his future to Man City and admitted he wanted to play more, especially in his preferred central position.
Arsenal are in need of a striker with Alexandre Lacazette and Eddie Nketiah both out of contract at the end of the season.
Kenny claims Arteta, who used to be the assistant manager at City, can give his side an edge in the hunt for Jesus.
“It gives them an edge over other clubs,” Kenny told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“If Arteta wants him then they clearly got on and he clearly rates him. So I can’t see there being any issues there.
“Jesus has always put up good numbers but he could probably get a few more goals if he is the main man somewhere.
“He’s Premier League quality and we know Arsenal need a striker so it makes a lot of sense.
“They could easily sign him in my opinion. I don’t know who else would be in for him.”
Jesus started as Man City crashed out of the Champions League thanks to a second leg semi-final loss to Real Madrid on Wednesday (4 May).
He has scored 13 goals in 38 total appearances this season.
