Arsenal told to sell Granit Xhaka and sign Thomas Partey ally after latest - pundit
Noel Whelan has backed Arsenal to sell Granit Xhaka and replace him with Leicester midfielder Youri Tielemans this summer.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, suggested the 25-year-old Belgium international would be a better partner for defensive midfield star Thomas Partey.
According to the Daily Mirror (11 June), Xhaka is attracting interest from the Bundesliga – while Arsenal have stepped up their interest in Tielemans.
The Switzerland international has two years left to run on his contract at the Emirates Stadium.
Tielemans is entering the final 12 months of his Leicester deal and has shown no sign of pledging his loyalty to the Foxes.
Former Arsenal captain Xhaka notched one goal and two assists in 30 games during the 2021-22 campaign, while the ex-Monaco star registered seven goals and five assists in 50 outings.

When asked if he thought Tielemans would be an upgrade on Xhaka for Arsenal, Whelan told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury: “I do.
“I’m a big fan of Tielemans. He’s a fantastic player – he’s like a Wijnaldum in that midfield, he does everything.
“He’s very competitive, great on the ball, good eye for a pass, set pieces. He can score goals as well.
“That’s an area where Xhaka has failed during his time at Arsenal.
“Partey is more of a sitting midfield player, and Tielemans could come in and get forward and cause problems.
“We know the quality he has. He would add that extra level above what Xhaka has offered over the years.”
Arsenal will play Europa League football in the 2022-23 campaign after a fifth-place finish.
The Gunners completed the signing of Brazillian winger Marquinhos on Monday (13 June) – their first summer addition.
