Arsenal told to sign 'eight new players' by expert after latest development
Kevin Campbell has urged Arsenal to add “eight new players” to their squad in the transfer market.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Gunners and Everton striker suggested a lack of squad depth has cost Mikel Arteta’s side in the latter stages of the season.
Arsenal’s hopes of qualifying for the Champions League all but ended at St. James’ Park on Monday.
A Gunners side missing the likes of Thomas Partey and Kieran Tierney lost 2-0 to the Magpies.
In the January window Arsenal allowed Ainsley Maitland-Niles, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Calum Chambers, Sead Kolasinac and Pablo Mari to exit.
There were no arrivals.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs if the January window had ultimately cost Arteta’s side, Campbell said: “You could say a lack of activity in January cost Arsenal but you just don’t know.
“The fact is, this squad were in a great position with three games to go. Hindsight is a wonderful thing but nothing is guaranteed.
“What I do know is that Arsenal need eight players. Many people say to me, ‘eight players, what are you talking about?’ Now they see. We need eight new players.
“We need eight players who are good enough to start. The starting XI and bench should be strong so you can mix and twist the team.
“Arsenal are not good enough at the moment. The do not have the strength in depth.”
