Arsenal will sell academy product Eddie Nketiah as they work on signing a replacement striker this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

It is believed any new arrival will push the 25-year-old down the pecking order at the Emirates Stadium.

Football Insider has previously revealed (22 March) that Wolves, Brentford and Crystal Palace are interested in signing Nketiah as they look to add extra firepower this summer.

Arsenal are planning to bolster their striking options themselves after falling short in the race for the Premier League title in the last two seasons.

Sources have told Football Insider (9 July) that Ajax star Brian Brobbey is just one of the names on the shortlist for the Gunners.

Arsenal have been forced to abandon their moves for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen and Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres due to their respective valuations - while Benjamin Sesko elected to sign a new Leipzig deal instead of finalising a move to England.

Gabriel Jesus and Kai Havertz were preferred to Nketiah in the 2023-24 campaign in the centre-forward role.

Selling the one-cap England international is an even more attractive proposition for Arsenal due to his home-grown status.

That will allow the club to record pure profit in their accounts and reduce their allowable losses under the Premier League's Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).

Lewisham-born Nketiah started in just 13 of his 37 appearances across the 2023-24 campaign, notching six goals and three assists.

The forward, who is under contract until June 2027, is now considered a fringe player by manager Mikel Arteta.
