Arsenal accelerate move to sign Jeremy Monga after talks held
Arsenal are making progress on a deal to sign Leicester City sensation Jeremy Monga, Football Insider understands.
Preliminary talks have been held between player's camp over a deal, with a full agreement edging closer.
Monga is expected to leave Leicester this summer regardless of Arsenal's interest, with several top clubs keen on his services after his breakthrough season in the East Midlands.
The 16-year-old broke into the Foxes' first team last term and registered one goal and two assists in 27 Championship appearances.
Arsenal are now deemed to be his most likely next destination as he aims to forge a career in the Premier League following Leicester's relegation to League One.
Mikel Arteta has been keen to place his faith in youngsters in recent seasons, with Max Dowman becoming a regular in his side at just 16-years-old too.
Monga is one of Dowman's teammates at England under-19 level, and could soon join him in North London as the Gunners build for the future.
Arsenal now ahead of Premier League rivals in Jeremy Monga race
Monga became the second-youngest Premier League debutant in history when he made his senior Foxes bow at just 15-years-old in April 2025.
He became the club's youngest-ever starter a few months later in August, and went on to be a regular under numerous managers last term as they were relegated from the second tier.
Sources previously revealed to Football Insider that Liverpool and Newcastle were racing for Monga's services, but Arsenal are now the front-runners.
Recent reports claimed that the Gunners had seen a bid for his services rejected, but he is expected to end up at the Emirates Stadium this summer.
Ruud van Nistelrooy has told Arsenal why they should sign Monga
Former Man United and Netherlands striker Van Nistelrooy handed Monga his senior debut during his short stint as Leicester boss last year.
Only Arsenal's Ethan Nwaneri had played in the Premier League at a younger age, but Dowman went on to leapfrog Monga into second in August last year.
Van Nistelrooy explained why he handed Monga such a huge chance at the time, saying: "You could see glimpses of his great qualities. He's a great winger and has speed. He's a fantastic talent, a great boy. He deserved these minutes and hopefully, more to come."
Arsenal fans should clearly be excited about the squad they are building as a deal for Monga progresses.
