Arsenal secure 'very attractive' price as 'completely critical' deal struck - expert
Arsenal's renewed partnership with Emirates is "completely critical" for the future of the club over the next seven years.
That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that agreeing new terms was "critical" for the Gunners.
Emirates first became Arsenal's front-of-shirt in 2006, later extending to the stadium naming rights in 2012, a deal that would expire in 2028.
With just two summers remaining until that deal was up, the Gunners have now struck a renewal with the airline company until 2033 in a huge move.
This means that Emirates will remain the club's front-of-shirt, training kit and stadium naming rights partner for another seven years.
With several Premier League clubs struggling to secure deals, especially front-of-shirt sponsors, the importance of this deal simply cannot be underestimated.
Arsenal's Emirates partnership 'completely critical'
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson applauded the deal being done by the reigning Premier League champions, explaining just how critical it is.
"It's completely critical these days because it's just so hard to get a very, very big sponsor that's prepared to take all of your main assets," he said.
"Stadium sponsor and front of shirt; we know the market's crowded. Emirates is synonymous with Arsenal.
"They've been there for the entire time of the stadium, so it's critical for that, really, really important. It was absolutely critical that they signed up the continuation of Emirates.
"It just stabilises everything, takes that issue off the table. It means that their biggest partner is now done for seven years at what will be a very attractive rate."
Arsenal fans want Emirates deal 'forever'
Unsurprisingly, reaction to the news has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans wanting the deal "forever" after the extension until 2033.
While the likes of Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and Sunderland yet to announce a front-of-shirt sponsor, Arsenal are well ahead of the game.
Much like Man City and Etihad, Arsenal are synonymous with Emirates, and that partnership is not going anywhere anytime soon after striking new terms for the next seven years.
