Arsenal told it will take '£150m' to prise Morgan Rogers out of Aston Villa - 'no-one forced him to sign that contract'

Morgan Rogers has been tipped to break the Premier League transfer record if he leaves Aston Villa this summer.

The 23-year-old is the subject of mounting transfer speculation, with a bid from Arsenal expected in the coming weeks.

The midfielder is currently on international duty at the World Cup with England, and will likely address his future upon his return.

Villa are determined to stand strong against potential suitors for Rogers this summer, and are under no immediate pressure to sell.

The former Middlesbrough star signed a contract extension in November, securing his future at Villa Park until 2031.

Villa will reportedly refuse to look at any fee below £100million, although the player is said to be allured by a potential switch to the Premier League champions.

Bryan King lays out Aston Villa's Morgan Rogers stance

Several big-money Premier League deals are already coming together this summer.

Elliot Anderson is expected to leave Nottingham Forest, with Manchester City in talks over a deal worth in the region of £130m.

Sandro Tonali is also expected to leave Newcastle United in a similarly-priced deal, with Tottenham and Man City among those interested.

"I think Rogers would break the record," former Villa scout Bryan King exclusively told Football Insider. "I think Rogers would cost more than what [Alexander] Isak did if he's going to go to Arsenal.

"And if I was Villa, I certainly wouldn't be interested in anything under £125m. Now, do Villa want to go that next step and say to Arsenal: 'you want Rogers? £150m or £125m or £130m plus a player.'

"Villa can decide exactly what they want to decide," he added. "He's under contract to 2031. Now, nobody forced him to sign that contract."

Premier League record transfers

Liverpool broke the Premier League's transfer record twice last season, first to sign Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen in a deal worth up to £116m.

That eclipsed Moises Caicedo's move to Chelsea, which could reach up to £116m with add-ons.

Enzo Fernandez also moved to the Blues for a mammoth-deal of £107m, while Declan Rice's move to Arsenal cost up to £105m.

Liverpool would blow all of those deals out of the water when they signed Isak for £125m on transfer deadline day last summer, however.

Yet there is almost an expectation that it will be broken again this summer, although whether that deal will include Rogers remains to be seen.
