Aston Villa confident of blocking Morgan Rogers thanks to England teammate
Aston Villa are set to demand around £130million for Morgan Rogers as they look to price Arsenal out of a move, sources have told Football Insider.
Rogers is on the radar of most top clubs in Europe after another stellar season for Aston Villa.
Arsenal have emerged as the strongest contenders to seal his signature as Mikel Arteta looks to add even more quality to his title-winning squad.
Villa do not want to lose him this summer as they prepare to return to the Champions League.
They have made that clear with their new valuation, as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider's Transfer Insider podcast, with Elliot Anderson's move to Man City meaning they want around £130m for the playmaker.
Forest and City have agreed on a deal worth that fee for his England teammate Anderson to move to the Etihad this summer.
Aston Villa use Elliot Anderson's valuation to make new Morgan Rogers demand
Rogers registered 25 goal contributions in 55 appearances last season as Villa won the Europa League.
He has mainly been used off the bench at the World Cup, as he competes for minutes with Eberechi Eze in a possible sign of things to come if Arsenal stump up a huge fee.
Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: "Villa are in a strong position here. He will only leave on their terms, because he's under contract until 2031 and they are demanding around a fee of 130 million pounds to even consider letting Rogers go.
"They are using the benchmark fee that's been spent on the likes of Elliot Anderson this summer."
Newcastle make new Bruno Guimaraes plan after Arsenal offer
Arsenal are keen on raiding their Premier League rivals this summer, after seeing a £55m bid rejected for Newcastle star Guimaraes last week.
The Magpies are keen on keeping him at the club after Sandro Tonali joined Tottenham for around £100m.
Sources have revealed to Football Insider that Newcastle want to offer Guimaraes a new contract to ward off the Gunners from making a second bid.
His future is likely to be decided in the next few weeks after Brazil went out of the World Cup, with the Newcastle man missing a key penalty in the first half of their loss to Norway.
