Ben White: Arsenal star to be 'tempted' into Everton move after talks

Published on

Ben White remains high on David Moyes' list of Everton targets and could be tempted to leave Arsenal in the summer transfer window.

The 28-year-old was part of the Arsenal side that won the Premier League this season, but injury issues and competition for places meant his minutes were limited.

Everton, meanwhile, are accelerating efforts to bolster their squad, with the addition of a new right-back ranking high on their list of priorities.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that White could be tempted to join Everton with the promise of more playing time under Moyes.

The boss is making ambitious plans for next season after narrowly missing out on European football, while Arsenal hope to raise funds through player sales.

Could Everton make a move to sign Ben White?

Brown told Football Insider last month that White would hold talks with Mikel Arteta to discuss his future at Arsenal and his playing time ahead of next season.

The England international is likely to seek assurances about his playing time before making a firm decision about his future at the Emirates.

However, should he become available, Everton are prepared to offer him a regular place in the starting XI in an attempt to lure him to Merseyside when the window opens.

"White is going to be an interesting one to watch," Brown told Football Insider.

"He's been a big part of this Arsenal team, and they've finally won the Premier League and overcome that hurdle of coming second, so he's got that experience.

"But he hasn't always been available, and when he has been available, there are other players ahead of him in the pecking order.

"If that's going to be the case again next season, especially with Arsenal looking to strengthen in the transfer window, there's definitely a possibility he could be tempted away.

"Everton are in need of a right-back and there's been a lot of talk that they could be in for him, and they could offer him first-team football.

"David Moyes is putting ambitious plans in place, he wants more signings like when they got Jack Grealish from Man City last year, and White would fit the bill.

"If he's going to become avilable, if Arsenal are open to letting him go and he wants to leave, Everton would be a very good destination for him."

How do Arsenal feel about selling White this summer?

Everton's interest in White comes as Arsenal are weighing up the futures of a number of first-team players, with Arteta looking to refresh his side in the window.

Despite their success in finally lifting the Premier League title, they are determiend to go one further and get revenge for their Champions League final defeat.

Football Insider revealed in March that Arsenal could cash in on White as they aim to raise money through player sales in a new transfer focus at the Emirates.

Sporting director Andrea Berta has been tasked with moving on fringe players for reasonable fees as they aim to reinvest the money into improving the starting XI.

Arsenal have struggled to make funds through sales in recent years, and are keen to match the likes of Man City and Chelsea in that metric.
