Forget Vinicius, Arsenal have a rare talent who will light up this season's Premier League

Christos Tzolis enjoyed another superb pre-season performance for Arsenal on Sunday as they were beaten 3-2 by Borussia Dortmund.

The 24-year-old got the assist for Ethan Nwaneri's strike and won the penalty that Viktor Gyokeres put away.

The winger was expected to bolster the squad rather than the starting XI when he arrived in a £35million deal from Club Brugge earlier this summer, but he is set to start the season on the left.

Arsenal attempted to sign Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid and had reportedly made an offer of interest to the Brazilian, before the Spanish giants upped their own proposal significantly.

It is unclear who the Gunners intend to target instead, but Tzolis has provided encouragement that he is ready to start.

The Greece international will almost certainly start the Community Shield against Manchester City on Sunday, and likely the Premier League opener against Coventry City.

Tzolis arrived at Arsenal with a staggeringly good record from Belgium, where he netted 17 goals and provided 23 assists in the league last season.

But there were doubts about how those numbers would translate to the Premier League.

The 24-year-old had already experienced English football with Norwich City, where he was undoubtedly a flop.

Tzolis' first displays in an Arsenal shirt have quietened many of those concerns, however.

The Greece international scored on his non-competitive debut against Girona, provided an assist against Real Betis and really impressed on Sunday.

Aside from an excellent assist that put the ball on a plate for Nwaneri and his run inside that won the penalty, the winger also created four chances and delivered two accurate crosses.

Tzolis got his defensive work done too, completing two interceptions and four recoveries.

Will Tzolis be Arsenal's main man on the left?

It remains to be seen what Arsenal have planned in the final stages of the transfer window.

Their pursuit of Vinicius Jr has proved the existence of huge funds available this summer, but they must be used for the right player.

Arsenal have also shown that they are willing to walk away if the fee is too high, like in the case of Morgan Rogers.

Should the right option not be available, Tzolis will be the starting left winger when Arsenal line up against Coventry and he may well stay there.
