Gabriel Martinelli 'will leave Arsenal' - expert reveals where he could go

Gabriel Martinelli is unlikely to have much of a future at Arsenal as Mikel Arteta continues to make changes to his squad.

That is according to former Manchester City financial adviser Stefan Borson, who exclusively told Football Insider that the Brazilian winger could be sacrificed this summer.

Despite having a contract until 2027 in North London, with an option of another year, the 25-year-old's future has often been a talking point.

In 2025-26, he finished the season with 11 goals and seven assists in 53 games, but was more often than not a substitute, starting just 11 Premier League games.

The Gunners have already signed Christos Tzolis as Leandro Trossard's replacement, and strong interest in Vinicius Junior suggests a desire to improve the left flank.

Arteta and his team have been extremely quiet in the summer window up to this point, but that could be about to change as Deadline Day ticks closer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson namechecked Martinelli as someone likely to move clubs this summer, with a Premier League switch more likely than signing abroad.

"These players are going to move on. And for Arsenal, it's like people like [Gabriel] Martinelli, who would ideally like to go," he said.

"I think those are the next phase of deals that are going to happen. We've had the very big deals. Now we're going to get some of the clearing of squads.

"But those deals are going to be much harder to do because those players are older and the teams that are interested really are only in the Premier League.

"Almost nobody can afford £50m outside of two or three teams in Spain, two or three teams in Germany, probably one team in Italy right now, maybe Juventus."

Who else could leave Arsenal this summer?

During the 2025-26 campaign, a lot was made about the Gunners' finances, and the need to sell once the summer window opens.

However, there has been very little movement at the Emirates Stadium, with former Leeds United goalkeeper Illan Meslier even joining the ranks.

The likes of Ben White, Ethan Nwaneri, Fabio Vieira and Gabriel Jesus continue to be linked with moves away, but nothing concrete has emerged just yet.

Arsenal and Arteta will be hoping to win back-to-back Premier League titles, with another run in the Champions League, but parts of the squad still need improving if they are to do so.
