'I've heard...' - Arsenal have just agreed '£100m' deal

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta's new contract is said to be worth £100million over the course of the next four years.

That is according to experienced former Everton, Aston Villa and Tottenham scout, Bryan King, speaking exclusively to Football Insider.

It was announced this week that the 44-year-old has put pen to paper on a new deal until the summer of 2030, which will take his tenure at the Emirates Stadium beyond a decade.

Arteta helped end Arsenal's 22-year wait for the Premier League title last season, and is keen to add more trophies to the cabinet in the coming years.

The Gunners are also reportedly close to extending the contract of Declan Rice, who will be expected to become one of the club's highest earners.

The likes of David Raya, Kai Havertz, Martin Odegaard and Jurrien Timber are also likely in contract talks, with their current deals set to expire in 2028.

Mikel Arteta is a 'top manager'

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone is said to be the highest paid manager in Europe, earning a reported £25.9m per year.

Pep Guardiola, who left Manchester City in the summer, was thought to be the highest-paid Premier League boss, earning more than £20m per year.

Arteta's new deal is said to be a significant raise, potentially taking him beyond what his former colleague earned.

"I've heard it's a four-year deal, £100m, and that works out, I think £17m is his basic wage, and then it's made up with bonuses, which will give him £25m a year," King told Football Insider.

"That's more than what Pep Guardiola was on at Man City. Mind you, we don't know exactly how much he was on because the figures have been moved about a bit.

"Arteta, he's produced. They've won the Cup. They've won the league. They got in the final of the Champions League. He's a top manager.

"It's the same in any walk of life or business. If you've got a manager performing, whether it's in a bank or a company, and he's doing well, he will get paid accordingly.

"This is what Arteta's doing. He learned his trade with Pep Guardiola - that's where he learned his trade. Under [David] Moyes, and when he came to Arsenal first.

"So, these figures and these contracts haven't just appeared after he started work for a week. He's built himself up to become what he is."

Will Arteta sign another new deal?

It seems inevitable that when Arteta does eventually leave Arsenal, it will be on his terms.

The Spaniard is a hero in North London and will almost certainly be honoured with a statue outside the Emirates Stadium in future years.

Yet it remains entirely unclear what the 44-year-old's plans for the remainder of his career are.

Arteta will face a difficult decision again in 2030, and if Arsenal have enjoyed another four hugely successful years, he may well decide that his job is done.
