Sources: Arsenal open preliminary Vinicius Junior talks

Arsenal are working on a sensational deal to sign Real Madrid winger Vinicius Junior, sources have told Football Insider.

Intermediaries are dealing with preliminary negotiations after the Premier League champions registered their interest in a stunning move for the Brazilian superstar.

The Gunners hold some fears that they are being used in negotiations by Vinicius' camp over a blockbuster new Real contract , but the interest is real and is tentatively being explored.

Vinicius Jr has just one year remaining on a deal at the Bernabeu conservatively worth £400,000-a-week.

But the Spanish giants do not want to risk losing him for free next summer.

The Brazil international scored 22 goals and provided 10 assists across all competitions last season and would fit the bill as the megastar signing Mikel Arteta craves

Arsenal have been frequently linked with Morgan Rogers and Bradley Barcola this summer but have been unwilling to loosen the purse strings, until now.

What do the finances look like in a deal for Vinicius Junior?

If they are to sign Vinicius Jr this summer, Arsenal will have several financial hoops to jump through.

The fee could potentially be the most straightforward part of the deal. In a market that sees the likes of Rogers, Barcola and Yan Diomande set to go for over £100million, Real Madrid should demand up to £200m.

However, with one year remaining on the Brazilian's contract, the Spanish giants will know that they cannot risk him leaving for free and may well accept a fee much closer to £100m.

Vinicius Jr's wages are the next issue. The winger reportedly earns up to £400,000 per week and is looking for a significant wage increase.

It is unclear just how high Arsenal will be willing to go, but the forward could certainly expect to become the highest-paid player in the Premier League.

The Gunners will also have to think about image rights and agent fees, but they will hope to get the player's approval before anything else.

When it comes to wingers, there are few better options on the planet than Vinicius Jr.

In just 375 games for Real Madrid, the Brazilian has 213 goal contributions and has scored winning goals in two Champions League finals.

Arsenal have felt lopsided for several years. Bukayo Saka's brilliance on the right has been briefly matched by Gabriel Martinelli and Leandro Trossard, but never to the same level.

Should the Englishman be accompanied by Vinicius Jr on the other wing, Arsenal would have a two-pronged wide attack feared throughout Europe.
