Arsenal "definitely" have the finances to compete with Real Madrid and Barcelona to sign Erling Haaland, sources have told Football Insider.

The trio of clubs already have their eyes on a move to prise the striker away from Manchester City as they await punishment from the Premier League.

The La Liga duo are some of the world's biggest-spending clubs, but Arsenal are also prepared to break the bank to sign Haaland.

Mikel Arteta's side had the money ready to land both Vinicius Junior and then Julian Alvarez in the summer, and sources say that they would intend to use that cash to secure Haaland.

The Norway international has been a long-term target for Barcelona, while Real Madrid are ready to continue their commitment to signing the world's best players.

Arsenal also have the financial muscle to rival the duo, and are paying close attention to Haaland's situation as it unfolds.

Erling Haaland's Man City stay 'inconceivable'

City are staring down the barrel of a potential relegation from the Premier League, after being found guilty of 114 financial breaches across a nine-year period.

That has thrust the futures of several of their top stars into the spotlight, with Haaland among those who will inevitably look elsewhere if the worst happens.

Football Insider revealed last week that it is seen as being "inconceivable" for the 26-year-old to stay at City if they were relegated.

Arsenal, Real Madrid and Barcelona are all "ready to pounce" on a move for him if the chance arises, despite the striker being under contract at the Etihad Stadium until 2034.

However, it would certainly not be a cheap deal for the Gunners to do, with City still planning to demand "top dollar" for their stars, rather than accepting cut-price deals if they are relegated.

Nevertheless, Arsenal are not overwhelmed by the prospect of competing against Real Madrid and Barcelona for the deal.

'I know people close to Max Dowman's family, Arsenal offer to be doubled by European giants'

European giants to 'double' Arsenal's Max Dowman offer

Former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness told Football Insider last week that it is simply unavoidable for Arsenal to offer a hugely lucrative wage to Max Dowman for his next contract

The 16-year-old prodigy is eligible for a professional deal when he turns 17 in December, and recent reports have suggested that he is in line for a weekly wage of £40,000.

However, Wyness is adamant that a deal of that weight is simply a must for Arsenal, and warned that if they don't take their offer that high, then members of Europe's elite will be willing to offer "double" that £40,000.

Real Madrid and Barcelona have both been sniffing around the attacking midfielder in recent months, but Dowman remains happy at Arsenal for now.
