Arsenal have lost out on £10m by selling Gabriel Jesus for well below his true value

Gabriel Jesus’ magical start at Barcelona continued on Wednesday as he scored his second goal for the club in a 7-2 victory against Racing Santander.

The Brazil international made the move from Arsenal to Barcelona late in the summer transfer window for £12.8million.

Despite only being at the Spanish giants for just over two weeks, it has not taken him long to adapt to his surroundings.

In just three games, the striker has netted twice, with the other goal coming in a 5-1 victory over Feyenoord last week.

This is despite Jesus not starting in a single one of these fixtures, with Barcelona opting to instead utilise him as a super sub.

As a result, Arsenal have clearly undervalued the attacker, which has now cost them potentially £10million.

Gabriel Jesus has been excellent for Barcelona

While neither of Jesus’ goals have been particularly important, with both coming in dominant wins, no one can deny that it hasn’t been an excellent start.

The striker is yet to even play 45 minutes of football for the Catalan club, but is tearing teams apart nonetheless.

Therefore, the £12.8m that Arsenal have received for the striker seems extremely low in today’s market, especially when compared to some of the other sales this summer.

Jesus is clearly still a quality player, and one who could now easily hit double-figure goals this season and win numerous trophies.

Realistically, Arsenal should have gotten at least £30m for the 29-year-old, and his sale is now an obvious transfer blunder.

What were Jesus’ stats vs Racing Santander?

According to Fotmob on 17 September, Jesus had some great stats when he came off the bench on Wednesday.

Overall, he completed 100 per cent of his passes, had one shot, which was on target, had a 0.14 xG, had two touches in the opposition’s box and won one tackle.

Therefore, Jesus is well on course to be an important player at Barcelona this season as they look to retain the La Liga title and win the Champions League.

However, it remains to be seen how much Arsenal will come to regret the sale in the coming months and if Jesus will retain this form for the rest of the campaign.
