Mikel Arteta 'fully understands' what's up with Eberechi Eze as Arsenal struggles emerge

Arsenal would be forced to accept a significant loss if they decide to sell midfielder Eberechi Eze any time soon.

That is according to former Everton chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes that the England international needs to be given more time to impress at the Emirates Stadium.

The 28-year-old scored in the Gunners' 2-2 draw with Bayern Munich on Wednesday, and has now found the net in their last two Champions League outings.

Wyness believes that Eze may have been dealing with a "mental issue" of sorts in North London, and is potentially now showing signs of getting back to his best.

The former Crystal Palace man has played just 130 minutes of Premier League football this season, after a difficult debut campaign for Arsenal last term.

The North London side shelled out a fee of £70million to snatch Eze away from Selhurst Park, but he hasn't been able to repay that so far.

Mikel Arteta backed to solve Eberechi Eze problem

Everton’s former chief Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes that Mikel Arteta possesses the ideal man-management skills to unlock Eze once again.

The attacking midfielder notched 26 goal involvements during his final campaign with Palace, but his form for Arsenal so far has been a far cry from that.

However, speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider's Inside Track podcast, Wyness does not expect the club to consider selling Eze any time soon.

"I don't think so. I don't think they're of a mind to crystallise a loss at the moment or to crystallise his value," he said.

"There's a player there, there's something going on, I don't know whether it's a fitness issue or whether it's a mental issue, but he needs to be given time, I think, to come back to his best.

"Mikel will have got to him, I'm sure; in terms of him being a good man manager, he'll understand what the issue is. They'll give him time; it'll be the end of this season if there's going to be any decision made on his future."

'Arsenal are actively watching Brighton sensation' ahead of 'big-money move'

Arsenal scouting Brighton sensation

Former Tottenham scout Bryan King told Football Insider earlier this week that Arsenal are actively tracking the progress of Brighton striker Charalampos Kostoulas.

The 19-year-old joined the Seagulls from Olympiacos back in 2025, and already has three goals and two assists from his opening seven league games this season.

King has heard that Arsenal already have scouts at the Amex Stadium watching the Greek international, who is beginning to make a name for himself in English football.

The Gunners have struggled with the lack of an elite striker in recent years, and Kostoulas could soon become their long-term solution up front.
