Sources: Arsenal plotting to hijack Liverpool deal

Arsenal have the financial capability to beat Liverpool to the signing of PSG winger Bradley Barcola, sources have told Football Insider.

The Gunners had the money set aside to sign Vinicius Junior from Real Madrid, and could now use that to beat their rivals to Barcola.

The North London outfit are looking to sign a new left-sided attacker as a top priority, and are weighing up a possible hijack of Liverpool's attempts.

However, PSG's £145million valuation of Barcola is also set to cause an "issue" for Mikel Arteta's side, as sources say that they would not be willing to break the £100m barrier for the wideman.

The 23-year-old's price tag is creating a "problem" for both clubs, and it is expected that whoever can overcome that hurdle will win the race for him.

Arsenal are now ready to rival Liverpool for the Frenchman's signature, but the saga is understood to be likely to run into the final stages before the 1 September deadline.

Bradley Barcola ready to move to the Premier League

Barcola's future has been up in the air for several months now, while the interest from Liverpool has been sustained since the start of the summer.

The starlet is a supreme talent, but often found himself playing second fiddle to the likes of Desire Doue and Kvicha Kvaratskhelia last term.

Barcola didn't start in the Champions League final win over Arsenal, and also only featured from the bench in both legs of his team's semi-final triumph.

That has seen him eye up a move away this summer to move into the spotlight elsewhere, and it is understood that he has been ready to make the move to Anfield in recent months.

However, until either Liverpool or Arsenal can match his valuation, or agree a compromise with PSG, then it is clear that he is going nowhere.

The Gunners were keen to spend in excess of the £100m mark for Vinicius, but have already set their upper boundary lower for Barcola.

Football Insider revealed last weekend that Liverpool's move for Ibrahim Mbaye is unlikely to impact their attempts to land Barcola.

The forwards both typically operate on opposite flanks, and Liverpool believe that they can secure both of them before the transfer deadline.

Arsenal are working to try and prevent that, but have obstacles of their own to overcome if they are to make their hijack a reality.
