Arsenal's German starlet Serge Gnabry is set to be unveiled as a Werden Bremen player on Wednesday afternoon, according to a report.

German outlet Bild claim that the player arrived in Bremen earlier today and is set to be revealed at 2.30pm on Wednesday afternoon, before the transfer window shuts.

The German transfer window shuts earlier than in the UK, with an official deadline of 6pm UK time.

Reports had stated that the 21-year-old was to join Bayern in a £6.8million deal before being loaned out to Bremen, but it now seems that Gnabry will join Bremen directly.

Bild's report states that the club had to battle other German teams Hertha, Leipzig and Mainz for the signature of the exciting winger.

Arsenal club captain Mertesacker was also said to be instrumental in the deal. Frank Baumann, Director of Football at Werder Bremen, tweeted: "@mertesacker told us a lot about @SergeGnabry."

Bild also tweeted a picture of the young winger arriving ahead of his move to the club.

The youngster had a disappointing season on loan at West Brom last year, and was limited to just one Premier League appearance.

However, he had a much better summer, and scored six goals in six games at the Rio Olympics, as he helped Germany to a silver medal, losing in the final to hosts Brazil.
