Jordan Amavi is set to leave Aston Villa this summer and has taken the first step in doing so by hiring a new agent, according to a report.
Get Football French News claim the 23-year-old has decided to cut ties with former Nice icon Christophe Mongai, and team up with new agency Classico Sports Management.
It is believed that the French left-back was the subject of cash-rich Ligue 1 outfit Marseille in January, and is a long-term target of Premier League giants Liverpool.
Steve Bruce’s decision to bring Wales international Neil Taylor to Villa Park in January saw Amavi face stiff competition as Bruce chopped and changed between the duo.
Making 36 appearances in all competitions this season, the former Nice defender is set to leave the club.
It remains to be seen how much the Midlands outfit would charge for Amavi, who has more than three years to run on his current contract with the Championship outfit.
However, with Bruce likely to strengthen his side this summer ahead of a promotion push in 2017-18, he will want to recuperate as much of the £10million Villa spent to sign him in 2015.
Football Insider verdict:
Struggling in English football, Amavi has shown defensive flaws in his game while playing in a league that you must be as defensively astute as you are going forward on the flanks. Known for his pace and his ability to whip a ball into the middle of the box, he has impressed going forward but the 10-time France Under-21 international would be much more suited to the style of football back in his home country or the attack-minded Bundesliga. Full-backs are known more for their attacking prowess rather than their ability to defend, and that would suit Amavi to a tee. Cashing in on Amavi would benefit all parties involved, then.
