Aston Villa are one of four sides who have agreed a deal to secure the loan move of Liverpool winger Sheyi Ojo, according to a report.

The Liverpool Echo claim on their website that Championship sides Villa, Derby, Middlesbrough and Fulham have all agreed a deal in principle with the Reds, and that the winger’s final destination is comes down the the player himself.

It is stated that Jurgen Klopp believes that a season in England’s second tier will help the 20-year-old’s development through regular first team action.

A versatile forward able to play on either flank, Ojo has 13 appearances under his belt for the Premier League giants, two of which came in FA Cup ties last season.

It would be his third spell out on loan from Anfield, after stints at Wigan and Wolves, although he has been with the Reds since the beginning of 2016.

If he were to choose Aston Villa, he would become their sixth signing of the summer, as manager Steve Bruce looks to build a squad capable of securing a place back in the top flight.

Football Insider verdict

Ojo has a difficult choice to make, with all four sides looking likely of mounting a promotion challenge next season. Middlesbrough are recently relegated and under the stewardship of new manager Garry Monk, while Fulham managed to reach the play-off semi-finals last season. Derby County, who finished ninth last season, have brought in Ojo’s former team mate Andre Wisdom, and he might be tempted to move somewhere with a friendly face. Villa meanwhile poses the biggest risk in terms of ambition. A 13th placed finish was hugely disappointing following their relegation, and while they have brought in Premier League experience in the shape of John Terry, Glenn Whelan, Ahmed Elmohamady and Chris Samba, there is no certainty that they will be able to push for the top spots next season. What the player, and Jurgen Klopp needs to consider, is where he will be a regular in the starting XI.
