Aston Villa is the 'perfect' destination for Tuaznebe after Man United update - pundit

It is time for Axel Tuanzebe to exit Man United for the good of his career – and Aston Villa would be a “perfect” fit.

That is according to ex-England goalkeeper Paul Robinson, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 23-year-old United centre-back.

This site revealed on 5th July that Villa have been given encouragement by United that they are planning to let him go in this window.

That comes after Football Insider first broke news on 29th June that Villa have a “concrete” interest in signing Tuanzebe.

He featured 19 times for United last term but just four of those appearances were as a starter in the Premier League.

Robinson claimed that the ship has sailed for the former England Under-21 defender and that he could reignite his career at Villa Park.

He told Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs: “At 23, if you’re not getting a sniff at your own club, it’s not a good sign.

“The under-23 league that’s been brought in gives people a false sense of security that you’re going to be a footballer at 23.

“If you’re 20 or 21 and you’re not training with the first team at that point, you’ve probably missed the boat.

“He’s got quality. But I think for him, at this stage in his career, he’s not at Man United level. So he probably needs to move elsewhere.

“Somewhere like Aston Villa would be perfect for himself and for the good of his career.”

Tuanzebe is no stranger to Villa fans after he spent two loan spell with the club between 2018 and 2019.

The second of those coincided with the Midlands club’s Championship promotion-winning season.
