Aston Villa could accept suitable offers for centre-back Diego Carlos before the summer window shuts, sources have told Football Insider.

The 31-year-old, who has previously been linked with AC Milan, has two years left to run on his contract at Villa Park.

Villa have alleviated Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) concerns with the sale of Douglas Luiz to Juventus, but Carlos could yet be sold before the end of the summer window.

The former Sevilla star joined the Midlands giants two years ago but missed most of his first season at the club with a serious achilles tendon injury.

He bounced back and secured a regular spot in the first team under Unai Emery in the 2023-24 campaign.

Carlos made 38 appearances across all competitions last season, starting in 28 of those outings as Villa secured Champions League qualification.

Aston Villa ready to consider Carlos offers despite PSR reprieve

He amassed experience in Europe's premier club competition during his time in Spain but could be sold if the right offer arrives.

As well as Olympic gold medalist Carlos, Villa have Pau Torres, Tyrone Mings, Ezri Konsa and Kortney Hause on the books at centre-back.

Sources say Huijsen is seen as "one for the future" by club chiefs as they hope to strike a deal for the Juve star.
