Aston Villa have had a slow start to their Championship campaign this season, picking up just five points from their first five games in England’s second-tier, and we at Football Insider believe Roberto Di Matteo side will make one key change to their starting line-up this weekend.

Summer signing Jonathan Kodjia could make his Villa debut against Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon, and could be one of seven summer signings in the starting XI.

The forward could be joined alongside new comers Ross McCormack, Mile Jedinak, Richie De Leat, James Chester, Tommy Elphick and Pierluigi Gollini.

Di Matteo’s £11million addition from Bristol City will be raring to go after scoring 19 goals in 48 games last term.

Kodjia is set to partner McCormack up front and the duo will be hoping to formulate a lethal partnership to help guide Villa out of the Championship and back to the Premier League this season.

Jack Grealish will also be readying himself to start the weekend’s clash after he signed a new four-year deal at Villa Park this week.

Grealish will be joined in midfield by former Cyrstal Palace anchor Jedinak. The 32-year-old Australia international joined the Birmingham outfit on a three-year deal in August.

Ashley Westwood should keep his place to play alongside Jedinak at the heart of the midfield as Aaron Tshibola remains sidelined with a groin strain.

Leandro Bacuna should get the nod to start on the right hand side of the midfield four, the 6ft 2in wide man will need to watch out after picking up three yellow cards in his first five games this season.

Di Matteo is likely to stick with the back four that conceded three against Bristol City in late August, despite his sides defensive frailties the Villa boss is hoping a run of games will give Villa the consistency they need to be successful this season.

De Leat, Chester, Elphick and Aly Cissokho will begin the fixture in front of new number one goalkeeper Gollini between the sicks.
