Aston Villa expected to swoop for Tammy Abraham after news from Italy - expert
Kevin Campbell has claimed Aston Villa could explore a move to bring Tammy Abraham back to the club after his successful loan spell in the 2018-19 season.
The former Arsenal striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, conceded the Midlands giants will face competition from rivals for the 25-year-old due to his “high ceiling”.
According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (14 November), Roma are open to “interesting” offers for Abraham after his struggles in front of goal this season.
He has notched just four goals across all competitions this season after netting 27 in domestic and European competition in the 2021-22 campaign.
Football Insider revealed last week (10 November) that Villa have set their sights on signing an A-list striker in the mid-season window as the club’s board look to back new boss Unai Emery.
Abraham managed 26 strikes across all competitions for Villa in the 2018-19 campaign to help the Midlands giants back to the Premier League.

Campbell told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “I think he would bring something really different to the table.
“He’s got the size, and he scored 27 goals for a top side last season.
“It hasn’t quite worked out for him this season, but he’s been there and done it. He’s loved already at Aston Villa, too.
“He can bring something different than the likes of Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings, for sure.
“But if he’s available, Villa would have competition. I think the ceiling for Tammy is quite high.
“I expect Villa will be looking at him.”
