Alan Hutton is doubtful that Aston Villa will spend £30million on Kieran Tierney after splashing out on Alex Moreno in January.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender said he'd "love" to see Tierney at Villa Park.

Football Insider sources revealed on Tuesday (7 March) that Villa have joined Newcastle United in a £30million race to sign Arsenal defender Tierney.

Tierney has fallen down the pecking order at The Emirates this season, with Mikel Arteta often preferring to start summer signing Oleksandr Zinchenko.

The Scotland international has managed just 468 minutes in the Premier League this season, with Arteta handing him 26 appearances across all competitions.

Villa were active in January and signed left-back Moreno from Real Betis for a reported £12.5million fee.

Hutton believes that Moreno's arrival in January means Villa are unlikely to strengthen at left-back again in the summer.

"I would love to see Tierney at Aston Villa," Hutton told Football Insider.

"I think he’s a fantastic player that has been really unlucky with how it’s worked out at Arsenal.

"Injuries haven’t helped and Zinchenko has been absolutely flying since arriving in the summer.

"It’s been very difficult for Tierney.

"I’d like to see him at Villa Park but I can’t see it happening after they spent a lot of money on Moreno.

Aston Villa

"They also have Lucas Digne there, so it’s difficult.

"I think £30million is a fair price, but I see Newcastle more willing to spend than Villa."
