Aston Villa fans have taken to Twitter to annihilate attacking midfielder Josh Onomah for his performance in the 2-0 loss to Derby at Pride Park on Saturday afternoon.
Steve Bruce had fans scratching their heads prior to kick-off when he failed to name a natural striker in his starting XI, however it emerged once the game had started that Onomah, 20, was picked to lead the line even though he has been out of form as of late.
Although he was being played out of position against Derby, Villa supporters weren’t so forgiving for the Tottenham loanee.
One disappointed fan even said that his performance and the fact he was playing up front was a “mess job”.
Here is a selection of their tweets:
I agree with this. I'd venture taking Whelan off and bringing on Hogan at H/T. Bruce needs to do something decisive, because Onomah is lost in his current role and the midfield is ineffective. #AVFC #DCFC https://t.co/BJiYsTGvxr

During the second-half, Bruce decided to drop Onomah back into a more familiar midfield role.
The Spurs attacker has made 22 appearances across all competitions for Aston Villa this term, scoring three goals and supplying one assist in the process.
Former Villa Park striker Andreas Weimann and Johnny Russell scored for Derby in their win against the Villains.
